SWEPCO seeking RFPs for solar, wind energy projects
Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) submitted filings this week to the Louisiana Public Service Commission for initiatives related to renewable energy sources.
Specifically, the company filed three draft Requests for Proposals (RFP) for renewable and economic generating capacity to supply the needs of its customers. One of the RFPs is seeking bids to purchase wind resources of up to 3,000 megawatts (MW). The wind resources must be a minimum of 100 MW and interconnect to the Southwest Power Pool (SPP). Also, they must be located in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, or Missouri.
Another RFP is soliciting bids for solar resources up to 300 MW. The solar resources must be a minimum of 50 MW and also interconnect to the SPP. Further, they must be located in the SWEPCO service territory.
The third RFP is seeking bids for short-term accredited deliverable capacity up to 250 MW. Proposals for short-term capacity must be for a minimum of 50 MW from SPP resources.
