Arizona Corporation Commissioner (ACC) Doug Little was recently selected to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC).

NARUC represents the state public service commissions that regulate the utilities that provide services, such as electricity, water and telecommunications. The Board of directors oversees NARUC’s efforts to improve public utility regulation and consists of 20 members, plus the president, first and second vice presidents of NARUC, as well as past NARUC presidents who are still active members.

“Commissioner Little has become a strong voice and leader for energy policy nationwide,” NARUC President Rob Powelson said. “He is a natural fit for the Board and brings his own innovative and critical thinking to policy making, which will benefit not only NARUC members but the communities they serve.”

Commissioner Little was elected to the ACC in November 2014 and was sworn into office in January 2015. He served as ACC Chairman from January through December of 2016. Little also serves on NARUC’s Committee on Electricity, is Vice-Chairman of the Western Energy Imbalance Market-Body of State Regulators, and is a member of the Western Interconnection Regional Advisory Board.

“It is truly an honor to be appointed to this position,” Little said. “I look forward to being part of the Board’s pro-active work to guide policymakers to find solutions to tough energy, natural gas, water, and communications issues that lie ahead.”

NARUC Board members serve four-year terms. Little’s appointment begins immediately and will continue through October 2020.
