Gulf Power announces four community solar projects during Clean Energy Week

To celebrate National Clean Energy Week, Gulf Power — a part of Florida Power & Light Company — announced new investments that will yield four community solar projects by year’s end in Northwest Florida.

These projects are already in development, and will include a 3.6 kW solar tree in Lynn Haven, Florida; a 3.6 kW solar tree at the Washington County courthouse in Chipley, Florida; and two additional 1.8 kW SolarZones in Bay County, one at Gulf Coast State College and another at the Bay County Government Complex. All are expected to be operational by the end of 2021.

“These new projects are bringing more customers opportunities to see solar energy at work and to interact with it, while the renewable energy feeds the electric grid with emissions-free electricity,” Mike Spoor, Gulf Power vice president, said. “One project we’re especially excited about is the Chipley solar tree that is being installed to commemorate the birthplace of Gulf Power, 95 years ago, and to celebrate our future integration with FPL, which is on track to make Florida one of the largest, most affordable and most accessible solar states in America.”

The new projects join nine existing solar projects already hosted by Gulf Power, from Destin to Pensacola, Florida.
