During the first half of 2022, Questar Pipeline Entities, which owns 2,160 miles of interstate natural gas pipelines throughout the Rocky Mountain Region, will be rebranded into the MountainWest Pipelines Holding Company as part of its sale by Dominion Energy to Southwest Gas Holdings, Inc.

That sale, finalized last week, included all of Quester Pipeline, LLC and its subsidiaries, as well as certain affiliates. Including an assumption of $430 million of existing debt, the sale was valued at $1.975 billion.

“We are very enthusiastic about the addition of MountainWest to the Southwest Gas Holdings family of assets,” John Hester, president and CEO of Southwest Gas Holdings, said. “Natural gas pipelines are essential to the nation’s energy future, which includes alternative sources such as renewable natural gas and hydrogen blended gas, and MountainWest brings increased scale and diversification to our business portfolio. MountainWest will focus on adding value by accelerating growth opportunities and positioning the Company as a leader in the evolving energy landscape.”

In charge of the new operation will be Colleen Larkin Bell, appointed as president of MountainWest. At Southwest Gas Holdings, she will report to its executive vice president, Karen Haller. Larkin Bell brings more than 30 years of experience in the natural gas industry, including a deep connection with Questar and its companies.

“I’m excited to join the Southwest Gas Holdings family and look forward to leading MountainWest and its employees into this new chapter of our organization’s history,” Larkin Bell said. “Our team is looking to leverage synergies that will further our shared commitments to sustainability, reliability, and operational excellence.”

This sale and rebranding will affect Federal Energy Regulatory Commission-regulated, long-term contracted transportation and underground storage assets – and related entities and services – across Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado.
