DTE Energy offers virtual public open house to discuss clean energy planning

As a means of pitching and educating on its clean energy plan for Michigan’s future – the CleanVision Plan – DTE Energy announced a virtual public open house on Jan. 18, during which the community will be able to pose questions and comments.

“DTE is committed to achieving net zero carbon and greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, so it is imperative that we carve the right path forward,” Trevor Lauer, president and COO of DTE Electric, said. “Getting our customers’ input early in the process ensures what matters most to them is taken into consideration as we work to achieve the right balance of energy sources that will provide cleaner, affordable, reliable, and secure power to our 2.2 million customers for decades to come.”

The company intends to transition its generation mix over the coming years. This meeting represents the first in a series of Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) open houses discussing the shift. Further, these open houses are scheduled before the company’s actual IRP filing with the Michigan Public Service Commission, slated for October 2022.

This first meeting will focus on the public open house process itself, as well as provide an overview of the IRP process and DTE Electric’s CleanVision Plan so far. Participants will be asked for feedback on topics and areas of interest for future meetings.

The first meeting will be split in two: one will be hosted at 1 p.m. that day, and another will follow at 6 p.m.
