Fluence Energy Inc., a leader in energy storage products and services, is opening a new manufacturing facility in Utah to address ongoing supply chain constraints and better serve the North American market.

Fluence Cubes will commence shipping from the facility in September 2022. The cubes, which are modular energy storage building blocks that deliver safe, scalable, cost-effective energy storage systems, support the company’s Gridstack, Sunstack, and Edgestack energy storage products. The Utah facility will initially produce 75 cubes per week, and ultimately reach 150 per week.

“At a time when the energy storage industry has seen increased supply chain disruptions, this production hub will be particularly important in strengthening business continuity and improving flexibility for meeting customer needs,” Fluence Chief Supply Chain and Manufacturing Officer Carol Couch said. “By opening this new facility with our contract manufacturing partner, Fluence is even better positioned to support customers with the rapid deployment of storage in North America.”

This contract manufacturing facility will expand Fluence’s production beyond Asia. In addition to Utah, it also has a facility in Ireland to serve Europe. Further, Fluence is opening a new product testing lab in Pennsylvania in August. The lab will serve as the primary location for testing various configurations of the company’s energy storage products.

“The markets we serve have unique use cases, customer needs, and regulatory requirements, and these new facilities are an expansion of the ongoing regionalization of our operations,” Couch said. “We look forward to utilizing this new contract manufacturing center, spare parts hubs, and testing lab to continue to better serve our customers across the globe.”

Fluence was formed in 2018 as a joint venture between AES and Siemens. Since then, it has expanded with offices in nine countries.
