ComEd averages energy bills among five lowest in the United States, data shows
Based on new data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) and an announcement from the Citizens Utility Board, bills for customers of ComEd of Illinois are currently among the five lowest in the country and lower on average than those in 49 out of 50 states.
The company quickly seized on that revelation, touting its place in the rankings, which have already been historically good.
“ComEd is working to support customers through reliable, clean, and affordable energy,” ComEd CEO Gil Quiniones said. “We’ve worked over the last decade to control costs while focusing on enabling more clean energy and improving the overall reliability of our grid. Our investments are providing our customers with the best electric value in the nation.”
Last year, the company’s bills were tagged as the lowest on average in the Midwest for the 10th year running. So far, for 2022, those monthly costs have been even lower than that, despite the rise in inflation.
In a statement, ComEd credited its diverse mix of nuclear, wind, and solar facilities in northern Illinois to generating those cheaper costs – and the cleaner energy fueling them.
