Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) announced Wednesday they had paid more than $339 million in property taxes in California during the second half of 2022.

The company owns properties supporting its gas and electric service in 50 counties. Those properties allow the company to provide gas and electric service to more than 16 million Californians.

“Property tax payments are just one of the many ways PG&E helps drive our hometown economies and supports essential public services like education, public health, and public safety,” said Chris Foster, executive vice president and CFO of PG&E. “These payments reflect the substantial local investments we are making in our gas and electric infrastructure to create a safer and more reliable system and to better mitigate against wildfire risk.”

The payments cover property taxes from July 1 to December 31, 2022. In total, the company said it will pay more than $678 million for its fiscal year that runs from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, an increase of more than $57 million, over what it paid in fiscal year 2021. The increase reflects PG&E’s investment in enhancing and upgrading its infrastructure for safety, reliability, and wildfire mitigation, the company said.

Payments ranged from $3,870 in San Diego County to $44,111,425 in Alameda County.

The company said it also supports the communities it serves by contributing $25 million to communities throughout its service area to enhance educational opportunities, preserve the environment and support economic vitality and emergency preparedness; and by allowing PG&E employees to provide volunteer services in their communities.
