Florida PSC Chairman Andrew Giles Fay added as new chairman of NARUC’s Committee on Critical Infrastructure

A leadership shuffle occurred at the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) this week, with Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairman Andrew Giles Fay named the new chairman of NARUC’s Committee on Critical Infrastructure.

Fay, a member of the Committee as well as the Subcommittee on Education and Research, will now oversee a forum for state regulators to analyze utility infrastructure security, best practices, delivery concerns, and collaboration opportunities nationwide. NARUC includes members from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, representing state public service commissioners in charge of regulating utility services such as electricity, natural gas, telecommunications, water, and wastewater.

“I’m honored to receive this appointment and look forward to the opportunity to lead NARUC’s Committee on Critical Infrastructure,” Fay said. “With Florida’s active storm seasons, we have become a leader in planning and executing successful emergency preparedness and response efforts. I believe this experience will contribute to the Committee’s important work in protecting and restoring our nation’s energy grid.”

Fay brings to the role years of work within state government as an assistant attorney general and special counsel, among others, having dipped his fingers into legislative, executive, and judicial matters over the years. He was first appointed to the FPSC by former Florida Gov. Rick Scott in 2018 and was reappointed to his position there by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
