Thanks to strategic sales and purchase of energy, El Paso Electric (EPE) announced this week that, come June, its customers in Texas and New Mexico will see varying savings on their monthly bills.

“We are proud to provide our customers with approximately $1 million in savings, much of which has been achieved through our active participation in the Western Energy Imbalance Market,” Dave Hawkins, vice president of system operations and resource strategy at EPE, said.

In New Mexico, this will take the form, on average, of $18 off electric bills for New Mexico customers. That figure could change in the months that follow – fuel and purchased power costs are adjusted monthly for customers in that state. However, in Texas, the company noted that customers will see a slightly lower average savings of around $11 per month, but that these savings will run through Sept. 30, 2023.

According to EPE, these measures are a direct result of its focus on affordability and reliability, from which both it and its customers stand to benefit.
