Teresa Mogensen has been tapped as the new president and CEO of American Transmission Co. (ATC), effective Aug. 16.

She will replace Mike Rowe, who has filled those roles since 2015 and is retiring at the end of the year. Until then, Rowe will serve executive chairman to ensure a smooth transition.

Mogensen has worked in the utility industry for more than 30 years, most recently with Xcel Energy as senior vice president, energy supply. While there, she led Xcel Energy Transmission through a period of significant expansion, including the successful implementation of the CapX2020 utility transmission collaboration.

Throughout her career, Mogensen has provided strategic leadership and technical expertise to teams across a wide variety of disciplines including electric system planning, construction and operations.

She had previously worked at ATC for seven years during the formation of the company in 2001 as the first multistate transmission-only utility in the nation.

Mogensen earned both a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University. She is a registered professional engineer and was a certified North American Reliability Corporation system operator. Also, she has served on various boards for industry and community organizations.

ATC, based in Pewaukee, Wisc., owns and operates more than 10,000 miles of electric transmission lines and approximately 580 substations in portions of Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and Illinois.
