The number of suppliers to have graduated from ComEd’s Energy Efficiency Service Provider (EESP) Incubator Program surged last week, with the addition of 27 suppliers freshly ready to provide energy-efficiency improvements in Illinois.

The program provides education and training related to ComEd’s energy efficiency portfolio offerings, one-on-one assistance with certification applications, business growth plans and an opportunity to network with project financing leaders while building a business in the field. Participants can also match with experienced mentors for extra support in the process. The focus is on diverse suppliers in particular, and this year, 26 of the 27 graduates could be counted among that group.

“ComEd recognizes that when we invest in diverse-owned suppliers, it strengthens families, uplifts communities and creates local jobs now and into the future,” Erica Borggren, vice president of customer solutions at ComEd, said. “By providing support to diverse suppliers – many of whom are small or family-run businesses – we can help them compete with larger organizations in the growing market that offers families and businesses the opportunity to save money and energy.”

Graduates can join the ComEd EESP network, a collection of contractors, distributors, engineering and design firms trained on the processes and procedures of the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program. As part of that network, they are authorized to provide related incentives to customers and work on energy efficiency projects.

In all, 71 organizations have graduated from the incubator program since 2019 and joined its EESP network.
