The Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) announced this week that it completed the process of merging with the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP), in order to create a single source of information about the transition to clean energy.

SEPA focuses on market research, conferences and events, and advisory services, and is looking to add technical depth to the organization through its partnership with SGIP.

“Within SEPA’s mission of facilitating the electric power sector’s smart transition to clean energy future, integrating SGIP’s technical knowledge is another way to serve all of our members,” SEPA President and CEO Julia Hamm said.

The merger was first announced on Jan. 31. The two organizations will operate under the SEPA brand and organizational umbrella. The merger will add 80 member organizations to SEPA’s current member base of 1,000.

The integration will be phased in through the rest of the year. All of SGIP’s staff transitioned to roles at SEPA and will continue to work on projects that began at SGIP.

“I’m excited to join SEPA as the new Chief Innovation Officer and expect the combined organization will be able to deliver even greater value to our members and the entire electric power industry,” Sharon Allan, former CEO and president of SGIP, said.
