Publishing ahead of the holiday week, Avista released its updated Corporate Responsibility report and other environmental, social and governance (ESG) information related to the environment, people, Avista’s customers and communities, as well as ethical governance.

“Avista’s updated Corporate Responsibility report showcases recent examples and the latest data that demonstrates our company’s longstanding commitment to corporate responsibility. Avista is committed to doing the right thing for our environment, our people, our customers and communities, along with our shareholders. Our business decisions are guided by integrity and our deeply rooted values,” Dennis Vermillion, Avista CEO, said.

The company has set a series of aspirational goals in recent years, including for clean energy, workplace equity, inclusion and diversity and supplier diversity. This latest report also identified various reporting frameworks and industry specific ESG disclosures and metrics related to the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) and the American Gas Association (AGA) ESG and sustainability reporting frameworks.

At this point, Avista services customers in four states: Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. To achieve this, it manages 19,000 miles of distribution lines, 2,770 miles of transmission lines and 8,000 miles of natural gas distribution mains, for a total of approximately 30,000 square miles of coverage area. Within that service area, it also operates eight hydroelectric facilities and seven thermal generation plants, and the company is working to integrate renewables more and more into its emissions reduction efforts.

Avista also claims to keep its carbon emissions among the lowest in the United States at this point.
