Public Service Company of Oklahoma issues RFP for generation resources

The Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) has put out a request for proposals (RFP) for additional generation resources.

Specifically, the RFP seeks up to 1,500 megawatts of additional power generating capacity to be in service no later than December 15, 2028.

“This Request for Proposals will help maintain a diverse, balanced generation portfolio that will serve our customers for many years,” PSO President and Chief Operating Officer Leigh Anne Strahler said. “We are pursuing this process with an open mind and a determination to choose the best solutions to meet our customers’ needs.”

The RFP includes all sources, such as natural gas, wind, solar and energy storage proposals. Also, the PSO is open to acquiring energy through a variety of channels such as Power Purchase Agreements, Purchase and Sale Agreements, and Capacity Purchase Agreements.

In addition, the RFP gives special consideration to Oklahoma projects, a move designed to keep economic benefits in the state.

Proposals will be evaluated based on criteria outlined in the 2023 All-Source RFP. Further RFP information, documents and schedules can be obtained through PSO’s website.

PSO, based in Tulsa, provides power across 30,000 square miles in Oklahoma. It is a subsidiary of American Electric Power, or AEP.
