With more than $440 million already invested into its U.S. manufacturing and distribution network since 2020, Schneider Electric recently announced plans for another $140 million of investments into its manufacturing efforts.

This could yield approximately 750 new positions in manufacturing and related roles as the company moves to support demand from critical infrastructure, industries, and data centers. Of the $140 million planned, the bulk of it—$85 million—will go to expanding Shchneider’s Smyrna, Tenn., manufacturing operations and transforming an existing 500,000-square-foot building in Mt. Juliet, Tenn. Both will create custom electric switchgear and medium-voltage power distribution products.

Mt. Juliet will also begin production before it’s fully operational. Schneider indicated that operation could begin manufacturing and shipping items by mid-2024, even though it won’t be working at full capacity until next year. Both it and the Smyrna facility will incorporate manufacturing technologies and software meant to improve operational performance, deploy energy saving, and reduce their carbon footprint, according to the company.

“The need for electrical infrastructure to support advanced computing and technological progress has never been greater,” said Aamir Paul, president of North America Operations for Schneider Electric. “These investments will also support implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act by strengthening domestic supply of products critical to boost America’s electrification transformation. They will also further position Schneider Electric as a driving force behind this country’s clean energy transition.”

Schneider has operated in the United States for 135 years and has operations across the country, from Pennsylvania to Texas. It’s a French multinational, focused on digital automation and energy management.
