PPL finished $2.4B worth of infrastructure improvements in 2023

According to a newly released 2023 Sustainability Report from the PPL Corporation, the company delivered a number of achievements last year, from its infrastructure improvement rollouts to millions in savings and active research projects.

In terms of work accomplished, PPL achieved $2.4 billion worth of infrastructure improvements on time and on budget in 2023, while also delivering $75 million in operation and maintenance savings. It focused heavily on technology, such as smart grids, automation and data analytics, but also invested in the clean energy transition. It touted improvements made to transmission and distribution systems, as well as the more than 150 active research projects it currently hosts.

Speaking of those projects, work is focused on accelerating development and commercialization of clean energy technologies. PPL noted that among them, those projects utilize $100 million in active federal funding.

Each of the Pennsylvania-headquartered corporation’s utilities also remained in the top-quartile of reliability last year.
