A new face officially took the reins at Pacific Power this month, after the company announced Ryan Flynn as its president.

In that role, Flynn will maintain authority over regional strategy and engagement, and guide its teams on customer and community affairs, government affairs, and legal operations. The native Oregonian began with a bachelor’s degree from Willamette University and a law degree from George Washington University, and has been a part of PacifiCorp – of which Pacific Power is a business unit – since 2006, with a few years’ exception.

In 2015, he left to pursue a family opportunity in The Netherlands, but returned to the company in 2018.

“Ryan’s extensive knowledge of the regional energy landscape, along with his personal and professional connections to the Pacific Northwest, make him uniquely positioned to lead Pacific Power and address the many challenges facing Western utilities today,” Cindy Crane, PacifiCorp’s chair and CEO, said.

Pacific Power serves hundreds of thousands of customers across Washington, Oregon, and California, although the bulk of its service is based in Oregon.

Flynn himself started with PacifiCorp’s legal department, and upon his 2018 return, took on roles as senior vice president and chief legal officer for Pacific Power. Therein, he led its legal, communications and government affairs teams.
