The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) announced on Thursday the finalists for its 2016 Edison Award, the most prestigious electric industry’s honor, including eight U.S.-based electric power nominees and two international electric energy nominees.

A committee of energy trade publication editors selected the finalists, with the final decisions to be presented in June during the EEI Annual Convention in Chicago. A committee of former electric company chief executives will make the final decisions for both domestic and international finalists.

“Our industry is in the midst of a profound transformation, and this year’s Edison Award finalists demonstrate that innovative and groundbreaking projects are underway across the electric power industry,” EEI President Tom Kuhn said. “These companies are delivering the energy future that customers want by building smarter energy infrastructure, providing clean energy, and creating innovative energy solutions.”

U.S. finalist include American Electric Power, the Arizona Public Service Company, Edison International, the Empire District Electric Company, Green Mountain Power, the Indianapolis Power & Light Company, the Vermont Electric Power Company, and Xcel Energy.

The International Edison Award nominees include the AES Corporation and the India-based CESC Limited.
