Tim Remole, Travis Fitzwater and Chuck Bayse, leaders from Missouri’s electric cooperatives and others attended the tour of the facility and stakeholder meetings.

“Affordable and reliable power is fundamental to a successful economy, and I look forward to building on today’s productive conversations,” National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) CEO Jim Matheson said. “I appreciate Administrator Pruitt visiting with the electric cooperative community. Today’s visit is another important step as we work to advance common goals and improve the lives of every rural American. ”

Matheson also noted that Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc., which owns the Thomas Hill Energy Center, has invested in emission control equipment at the Thomas Hill plant, which has made it “one of the cleanest coal plants in the nation.” Associated Electric was also chosen as “Wind Utility of the Year” for its work on Missouri’s first wind farm, he said.
