The Mississippi Public Service Commission (PSC) recently approved a plan by Entergy Mississippi to
install advanced meters for its residential and business customers as part of their Smarter Energy Future plan.

The advanced meters will provide customers with detailed information on their energy use, which can help them to reduce energy consumption and lower their bills. It allows Entergy Mississippi to more clearly see how the grid is operating and identify outages more precisely. They will also allow the company to more quickly accurately answer its customer’s billing questions.

“The PSC’s forward-thinking commissioners have approved our plan to install advanced meters at homes and businesses served by our company,” Entergy Mississippi President and CEO Haley Fisackerly said. “These meters are the foundation for grid modernization technologies that will offer a wide range of benefits to our customers.”

Entergy Mississippi will build and deploy the systems and infrastructure needed for the meters over the next 18 months. Installation of the advanced meters will begin in early 2019 and be completed by the end of 2021.
