GE to provide turbines for Invenergy’s Texas wind farm

GE Renewable Energy recently announced it would provide 120 GE2.5-116 90-meter turbines for Invenergy’s 300-megawatt (MW) Santa Rita wind farm in Reagan County, Texas.

This agreement marks the first time Invenergy, the largest independent, privately held clean energy provider in North America, will utilize GE’s 2.5-116 turbines.

“Invenergy and GE have a long history of successfully working together to provide several gigawatts of affordable, reliable, sustainable energy,” Pete McCabe, president and CEO of GE’s Onshore Wind business, said. “We are pleased to continue this relationship as we develop the Santa Rita Wind Farm and bring more renewable energy to Texas.”

GE will also deploy its Digital Wind Farm solutions, which includes software such as Asset Performance Management analytic capabilities to support wind operations and cyber security through its SCADA secure edition. A portion of the turbines installed at the Texas wind farm will utilize blades manufactured by LM Wind Power, which GE Renewable Energy recently acquired.

“We are always exploring innovative ways to advance our clean energy generation and we’re excited to work with GE – a long-standing partner with an excellent reputation for innovation – to maximize the efficiency of our Santa Rita Wind Farm,” Invenergy Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Jim Shield said.
