Rocky Mountain Power launches new online power outage map

Published on June 06, 2017 by Daily Energy Insider Reports

Rocky Mountain Power recently launched an online outage map that shows disruptions in power for its customers in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho.

The map shows a red dot in the approximate location of a power outage. The size of the dot will correlate
to the size of the outage and will show outages of any size, even those that affect just one customer. Previously, the company’s map only showed disruptions if they impacted more than 500 customers.

Customers will also be able to see on the map the cause of an outage once it is determined. They will also
be able to access the estimated time it will take for power to be restored. When the power comes back on, the red dot will disappear. The map will be updated every 15 minutes.

While the company also plans to make it available on its mobile application in the near future, the map can currently be found on Rocky Mountain Power’s website. Customers will still be able to get outage information by phone.
