Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) completed and entered into service this week a 16-mile, $124 million transmission line project in Monmouth County, New Jersey.

The project will serve 180,000 customers in Colts Neck, Howell, Neptune, Tinton Falls and Wall, New Jersey.

JCP&L built the Oceanview Reinforcement Project along existing right-of-way with steel pole construction to connect substations in Howell and Neptune. The projects also included the rebuilding of an existing 230-kiloVolt transmission line connecting substations in Colts Neck and Neptune. Overall, JCP&L installed 11 five-ton circuit breakers and remote-control communications equipment at the substations as part of the project.

“This vital infrastructure enhancement project was completed in a timely and efficient manner thanks to the cooperation we received from multiple municipal, county and state officials and agencies,” Mark Jones, JCP&L vice president of operations, said “The project will help provide safe and reliable electric service to our customers this summer and in the future.”

The Oceanview project is the second JCP&L transmission project to go online over the past several weeks in Monmouth County. The company completed a new transmission line connecting substations in the Eatontown area in May.

JCP&L plans to invest $359 million throughout the year on infrastructure projects and reliability enhancements across its 13-county northern and central New Jersey service area.
