Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority elect chair, vice-chair

The Commissioners of the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) re-elected Commissioner Katherine S. Dykes as the commission’s chair and Commissioner John W. “Jack” Betkoski,
III as vice-chair.

Dykes joined PURA as a commissioner last October. She previously served as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). Prior to her role at DEEP, she served as Deputy General Counsel for the White House Council on Environmental Quality and as Legal Advisor to the General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Energy. An attorney, she graduated from Yale College and Yale Law School.

Betkoski has served as a PURA commissioner for two decades, including the last ten years as vice-chair. He was formerly a legislator specializing in water issues. Currently, he serves as first vice president of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, chairman of the Connecticut Water Planning Council and a member of the American Water Works Association Research Foundation’s Public Council on Drinking Water Research.

Commissioner Michael A. Caron joins Dykes and Betkoski on the commission.

Connecticut law requires PURA to elect a chair and vice-chair each year in June for a one-year term that begins on July 1.
