Rocky Mountain Power recently named the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District (JVWCD) in Utah a wattsmart Business Partner of the Year in recognition of energy saving efforts they used last year that saved over 9.3 million kilowatt hours – enough energy to power 1,040 homes.

“Jordan Valley Water’s leadership instilled confidence in their employees to use a systems-thinking approach for creative and large-scale decisions that favorably impacted energy cost savings,” Raenee Bugarske, Rocky Mountain Power wattsmart project manager, said. “These are extraordinary energy savings and definitely an achievement to be recognized.”

In 2016, JVWCD created two capital improvement projects as well as a Strategic Energy Management program, which works to promote energy efficiency support in organization decision making. While the programs resulted in annual energy costs savings of $372, 275, Rocky Mountain Power also provided $275,134 in incentives.

“Jordan Valley Water is a valuable partner of the wattsmart Business Program and an excellent steward of its resources,” Bugarske said. “Rocky Mountain Power is proud to honor this organization for its partnership and its example in using energy efficiently.”

Rocky Mountain Power’s wattsmart business program seeks to improve the energy efficiency of businesses by offering technical expertise and cash incentives.
