FERC appoints Hurt administrative law judge

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Norman C. Bay announced on Monday that FERC has appointed the Honorable Judge Patricia E. Hurt as a FERC administrative law judge (ALJ).

Hurt served as an ALJ to the Social Security Administration’s Office of Disability Adjudication and Review since May 2015. She also served at FERC’s Office of Administrative Litigation for approximately eight years as a trial attorney and special assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

“Judge Hurt’s experience, particularly at FERC, will serve the Commission and the public well,” Bay said. “I am very pleased she is joining our excellent ALJ team.”

Chief Administrative Law Judge Carmen Cintron expressed excitement at welcoming Hurt back to the FERC. Prior to serving as a trial attorney, Hurt served as an attorney advisor to the FERC’s Office of Administrative Law Judges and former Commissioner Philip Moeller. Hurt also served as a law clerk for ALJ Cintron and worked as a trial attorney in the Civil and Civil Rights Divisions of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Hurt graduated from the Catholic University Columbus School of Law in 1999. She is a member of the Bars of the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth, Ninth, Eleventh, Virginia and District of Columbia Circuits.
