The Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA) announced on Tuesday that it was awarded $568,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DoE) SunShot Initiative for the development of policies and practices to expand solar energy availability and access.
“Effective state programs and policies have been essential to growing the solar market in the U.S.” Warren Leon, CESA’s executive director, said. “CESA’s new Sustainable Solar Education Project will address two issues that state officials have identified as important to maintaining solar’s impressive growth: the need to make it easier for all residents of a state to participate in the solar market and the need to provide sound information and adequate protection so that consumers have confidence in their solar purchase decisions.”
The award will be used to fund the Sustainable Solar Education Project. The initiative will support the development of education materials, workshops and online courses for policymakers and administrators to better understand solar energy safety and implementation. CESA said that providing consumers with widespread solar education and improving access to solar energy will allow for more widespread clean energy development in the nation.
CESA is also committed to assisting policymakers and regulators in solar development. It will offer technical assistance to stakeholders through the project to ensure that all members of the energy community have the support needed to expand solar energy development and access.
