Dominion Energy recently announced that it acquired two five-megawatt (MWAC) solar generating plants and plans to purchase two additional solar projects totaling approximately 10 (MWAC) in North Carolina.

Fremont, the first of the already-acquired facilities is located in Wayne County, North Carolina. The second, Moorings 2, is located in Lenoir County.

The third and fourth projects are currently under construction in Sampson and Wayne County. They each
total approximately five MW. Dominion expects construction to be completed and to close on the purchases in the third quarter.

“With these acquisitions, Dominion Energy is well on its way to bringing into service more than 700 megawatts of solar energy in North Carolina and Virginia by the end of 2018,” Keith Windle, vice president of Business Development & Merchant Operations, said. “We will continue to develop and acquire clean energy projects that help customers meet their energy needs.”

Dominion has negotiated power purchase agreements for the energy produced at the facilities.

Dominion Energy has more than 2,000 MWAC of solar generating capacity, including company-owned resources and assets contracted by Dominion Energy utilities, in operation or under development in nine states.
