NARUC appoints Britton to multiple national committees
The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) appointed Commissioner Sam Britton to multiple national committees on Monday.
Britton will serve on the NARUC Investment Committee, the Committee on Electricity and the Subcommittee on Nuclear Issues-Waste Disposal. A resident of Laurel, MS, Britton currently serves on the Mississippi Public Service Commission, representing Southern Mississippi.
“It’s an honor to be appointed to these NARUC committees,” Britton said. “I look forward to working with other State commissions to ensure the interests of ratepayers around the country and our state are protected and heard.”
Founded in 1889, NARUC was established to represent the interests of the state public service commissions, including providers and regulators of energy, water, power and telecommunications. The association consists of eight committees, each composed of state public service commissioners across the U.S., that determine association policies on congressional, federal and industry matters after approval by the board of directors. In addition to these functions, the committees facilitate panel discussions and educational sessions that aid in information sharing and the development of creative solutions on issues pertinent to the association.
Britton brings 30 years of accounting experience to the committees, along with expertise gained from his positions with the offices of the state auditor and state tax commission prior to his election to the Public Service Commission in 2015.
