Canada’s Solar Alliance Energy to design, build $3.5 million solar project in Los Angeles

A new commercial-scale solar project in Los Angeles is to be designed and built by Solar Alliance Energy Inc. of Canada, culminating in the creation of a rooftop solar installation and a carport solar installation.

Both installations will be part of a mid-rise, multi-tenant office building and come with a price tag of approximately $3.5 million. While feasibility studies and grid connection applications still need to be completed, the Solar Alliance has already assessed the project by the building owner’s needs, the requirements of the operation itself, and utility usage inherent in the solar connection. The hope is to offset more than 75 percent of the building’s annual electricity requirements through the customized solar system.

“Solar Alliance has taken a prudent, professional approach to the development of our commercial division and this agreement is the result of many months of work,” Chairman and CEO Jason Bak said. “We are committed to building relationships with commercial property owners and developers in order to illustrate the financial benefits of solar. This project will save the building owners an estimated US$20,000,000 in electricity costs over the life of system and it illustrates the exciting growth prospects for Solar Alliance in the virtually untapped commercial solar sector.”

Construction is expected to begin before year’s end. This construction is only Solar Alliance’s second commercial-scale solar project. It comes as Solar Alliance narrows in on acquisition of Aries Solar, LLC, a company with an established background in solar energy that spans across engineering, procurement and construction.
