Rocky Mountain Power asks Idaho PUC to authorize adjustment of federal billing credit

Rocky Mountain Power recently requested that the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (PUC) authorize the adjustment of a federal billing credit for certain residential and farm customers in Idaho, which would result in savings for residential customers.

If the PUC approves the request, a typical residential customer would see a decrease of approximately $6.60 in the annual power bill. The change would take effect on Oct. 1.

The Bonneville Power Administration Residential Exchange Program aims to share the benefits of the Federal Columbia River Power System with residential and small farm customers of investor-owned electric utilities in Idaho and other Northwest states. The program was initiated in 1980 through the Bonneville Power Administration, a federal power marketing agency.

Rocky Mountain Power passes the exchange benefits directly to customers. They do not impact the utility’s revenues.

The public may comment on the proposal during the commission’s review process.
