FPL working to restore to approximately 300,000 remaining customers without power after Irma

Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) has restored power to approximately 4.1 million customers and is working to return power to the 300,000 still without it after Hurricane Irma, the company said in a press release.

“Our efforts are centered on getting the lights back on for our customers who have been without power the longest,” Eric Silagy, president and CEO of FPL, said. “We know patience has worn thin and with the help of thousands of hardworking men and women from 30 states and Canada, we’re working day and night to help our customers’ lives return to normal.”

Power in Columbia, Duval, Hardee, Martin, Orange, Osceola and St. Lucie counties is 100 percent restored.

In Miami-Dade, Brevard, Broward, Clay, Flagler, Indian River, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, Seminole, St. Johns, Union and Volusia counties, power has been 95 percent restored

85 percent of restoration is complete in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, DeSoto, Hendry, Lee and Glades counties.

In Collier County, where Irma made landfall, is 85 percent restored.

FPL expects the majority of restoration in Northeast Florida counties to be completed today, with a small amount finishing on Tuesday.

“To our customers without power, I want you to know that we understand how frustrating it can be, and we will not stop until everyone’s lights are back on,” Silagy said.
