The National Mining Association (NMA) named Ashley Burke as the new senior vice president for communications on Wednesday, which will include the oversight of the organization’s internal and external initiatives.

“We are very pleased to have Ashley’s two dozen years of communications experience placed in the service of our industry,” NMA President and CEO Hal Quinn said. “Her deep expertise, demonstrated in a variety of corporate and public relations positions both here and abroad, will [help] us convey the values of this country’s unrivaled endowment of minerals and coal.”

Burke previously worked as the global director of communications for Dentons, guiding the law firm during numerous mergers and positioning the firm as the world’s largest law firm. She also worked as the senior vice president of communications for DynCorp International, a government contractor. Additionally, Burke has created communication strategies in 38 countries and has served as a global expert on branding and public relations.

Burke also gained experience working as a consultant for crisis communication during her time as the executive vice president for Prism Public Affairs. She has helped governments, companies and coalitions navigate crises in communication and public relations. She will bring her expertise to the mining industry through her new role with the NMA.
