FERC approves Energy Transfer’s request to resume horizontal directional drilling operations on Rover Pipeline Project

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) recently approved a request from Energy Transfer Partners to resume Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations along the Rover Pipeline Project.

Energy Transfer expects to begin the approved operations this week on nine HDD locations and will focus on the Captina Creek HDD in Belmont County, Ohio.

Completing the Captina Creek HDD will enable the full Phase 1 portion from Seneca, Ohio to Defiance, Ohio, to enter service by the end of the year. Phase 1a from Cadiz, Ohio, to Defiance, Ohio, entered service on Aug. 31, 2017.

The Rover Pipeline Project will transport up to 3.25 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day 713 miles from the Marcellus and Utica Shale production areas to markets across the United States and the Union Gas Dawn Storage Hub in Ontario, Canada.

The full Rover Pipeline Project is expected to enter service at the end of the first quarter of 2018.
