Commissioner Glick sworn in as latest member of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

Following his nomination for the position by President Trump in August, Richard Glick was sworn into his new role on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Nov. 29.

The appointment gives FERC a two-two split between Republicans and Democrats. The commission is still waiting on the swearing in of its new Republican chairman, former energy consultant Kevin McIntyre.

Glick has long been involved in energy affairs, having previously served as general counsel for the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee’s Democrats, as well as a senior policy advisor and vice president of government affairs for Iberdrola’s renewable energy, electric and gas utility, and natural gas in the United States. He has also worked as director of government affairs for PPM Energy, director of government affairs for PacifiCorp and served as policy advisor and legislative director for several political figures.

He is a graduate of George Washington University and Georgetown Law. His swearing-in further readies the Commission for a major vote over Energy Secretary Rick Perry’s plan to incentivize aid to coal and nuclear power plants.
