Entergy Mississippi investing $2.5 million in projects in four Delta counties
Entergy Mississippi recently announced that it is investing $2.5 million in reliability and resiliency projects in the Mississippi Delta counties of Bolivar, Humphreys, Leflore, and Sunflower.
“This is part of a multi-year investment designed to strengthen all parts of our grid to help reduce power outages,” Robbin Jeter, Entergy Mississippi vice president of customer service, said. “A strong, reliable power grid is critical to our safety and way of life, and it’s necessary for job creation and growth.”
The company is investing more than $1.6 million on replacing and upgrading existing equipment and is spending approximately $800,000 to trim vegetation from 325 miles of line and 13 circuits.
It is also dedicating approximately $200,000 to maintenance and repair at the South Cleveland substation. The bulk of these will go toward the installation of a Vanquish fence, specialty fencing that prevents animals from entering the substation site, a common cause of outages.
Last year, Entergy spent approximately $66.5 million on reliability projects throughout its 45-county Mississippi service area.
