Gray Oak Pipeline to fuel 3 million barrels of crude oil daily to Texas markets

With the opening of the Gray Oak Pipeline in west Texas, the state’s crude oil transportation system will see a boost to Corpus Christi, Freeport, and Houston, Texas.

The oil will flow from any of four counties: Reeves, Loving, Winkler, and Crane. While the pipeline will initially have a throughput capacity of 385,000 barrels per day, output is expected to reach more than 3 million barrels per day, with refining facilities and multiple dock facilities along the route capable of undertaking crude oil exports. The line is run by Phillips 66 and Enbridge Inc.

Shipper interest will determine how the pipeline evolves, and the pipeline system is expected to be placed in full service in the second half of 2019. This open season, however, has already begun. To participate, those interested must agree to a confidentiality arrangement for the receipt of the open season documentation.
