The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) announced Tuesday that it is seeking further comments from interested stakeholders on utility hurricane preparedness and restoration actions as part of a broader 2017 review of the issue.

The PSC is requesting comments from local governments, businesses, advocacy groups, and other organizations on issues such as vegetation management, undergrounding of electric facilities and utilities’ coordination, and communications during emergencies.

“We’ve been actively collecting data from Florida’s electric utilities and from more than 400 customers who’ve provided comments via the portal on the PSC’s homepage,” PSC Chair Julie Brown said. “Now we’re drilling down another level to reach more stakeholders, who can provide an even broader perspective on how utilities are handling tree trimming, facilitating electric facilities undergrounding, and interacting with local emergency operations centers.”

Information on submitting comments is available on the PSC’s website in the Hot Topics section under Review of Electric Utility Hurricane Preparedness and Restoration Actions Comments. All submitted comments will be public record and be posted on the commission’s website.

Stakeholders must submit comments by February 20, 2018. Comments are limited to 25 pages, excluding attachments.
