Hearing to be held for proposed crude oil pipeline in North Dakota

The North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC) announced on Tuesday that it will hold a public hearing regarding a proposed crude oil pipeline in McKenzie County.

The hearing will be held in Watford City on April 19.

Sacagawea Pipeline Company, LLC, submitted the proposal. The company applied for a permit for the construction of a 15-mile long, 16-inch diameter crude oil pipeline and associated infrastructure that connects to the Sacagawea Pipeline and Dakota Access Pipeline.

The proposed project would increase crude oil supply to numerous U.S. refineries. It would have a maximum capacity of 100,000 barrels per day (b/d), with an average expected throughput of 75,000 b/d. The total estimated cost of the project, including associated equipment, is $20 million.

The hearing will take place at Teddy’s Residential Suites, 113 9th Avenue SE, Watford City, N.D., at 9 a.m. on April 19. The hearing provides an opportunity for community members to voice their opinions, ask questions and express support for the proposal.

Anyone who wishes to contribute to the PSC’s official record regarding the proposal must be in attendance at the hearing. Any information, questions or comments received after the hearing will not be added to the record or be taken into account during the commission’s decision-making process.
