The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) announced the release of a long-awaited update to its widely used Guide to Federal Tax Incentives for Solar Energy on Thursday.

The new edition will be the first in three years, a much-needed update to a document known to some as the “premier tax manual for the solar industry.”

“This comprehensive document really gives SEIA members a leg up when it comes to navigating the tricky terrain of taxes,” Tom Kimbis, SEIA’s interim president and general counsel, said. “With the recent extension of the ITC, over the next five years the solar industry is expected to nearly triple in size. This resource will help solar companies stay up to speed on how policies born in Congress and across America’s state capitals impact their business.”

More than 10 years after version 1.0 was released in January 2006, version 8.0 offers valuable information regarding qualification requirements for solar investment tax credits (ITCs), describing how commence construction works, discussing depreciation bonuses and offering analyses of financial issues.

SEIA will also resume its Finance and Tax Seminar offerings in December. The Finance and Tax Seminar is a conference focusing on the solar industry’s accounting, finance and tax issues.
