The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) recently awarded Nevada Site Science Supply and Technologies Corporation, LLC (NVS3T), a contract to manage and operate the Nevada National Security Site near Las Vegas.
“The NNSS management and operation (M&O) contract generated an unprecedented level of interest from industry,” NNSA Administrator and Under Secretary for Nuclear Security Ret. Lt. Gen. Frank G. Klotz said. “Robust competition ensures that NNSA attracts world-class talent from the commercial sector in managing and operating NNSS. The response to the competition also demonstrated that the improvements made to streamline NNSA’s acquisitions process are making a difference.”
The NNSS facility is a 1,360-square mile experimental testing facility and training space for nuclear technology. Ongoing programs include testing to advance nuclear nonproliferation and nuclear national security. NNSS research is aimed at improving the safety, reliability, and security of the nuclear sector and the nation’s nuclear weapon stockpile.
NVS3T is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Integrated Technology, LLC. It was awarded the contract, valued at $5 billion by 2027 if all options are exercised, based on best-value. Fluor Federal Services, Inc., and Longnecker and Associates, Inc., will act as subcontractors for the agreement.
The contract terms will go into effect near the beginning of 2017.
