PSEG Solar Source and Ecoplexus sign second power purchase agreement
PSEG Solar Source announced the acquisition of a 16.8 MW-dc solar energy facility in Northampton County, North Carolina. on Friday.
PSEG acquired the Turkey Creek Solar Energy Center from Ecoplexus Inc., with an agreement that marks the second acquisition PSEG has made from Ecoplexus. The facility is located on 75 acres situated approximately 95 miles northeast of Raleigh, North Carolina, with a 35-year lease with a private landowner.
“We are delighted to work with a top-flight developer like Ecoplexus as we continue to grow our business and expand our solar portfolio across the country,” Diana Drysdale, president of PSEG Solar Source said. “This purchase is another example of PSEG’s commitment to providing a sustainable energy future. When operational, this facility will power 2,400 homes.”
Turkey Creek Solar Energy Center will be PSEG’s 19th utility-scale project. The company’s facilities are located across 13 states, and include 215 MW-dc of operational solar facilities, with 128 MW-dc presently under construction.
“Ecoplexus is very pleased to build upon its successful partnership with PSEG in bringing new clean energy online for the state of North Carolina,” John Gorman, CEO of Ecoplexus said. “The Turkey Creek project will create approximately 185 construction jobs in addition to adding to the tax base of Northampton County community.”
