Black Hills Energy extends timeline for pipeline project completion

Black Hills Energy extended the anticipated completion date for the company’s 50-mile natural gas pipeline construction project in northeast Nebraska.

Black Hills Energy informed customers, landowners and city leaders that the company will need more time to complete the project in order to provide measures for guarding against future corrosion in order to ensure long-term durability on the line.

This will benefit customers in northeast Nebraska by offering the economic benefit of opening the area to safe and reliable energy for new businesses, including OCT Pipe of Rockwall, Texas.

OCT recently announced plans to build a 1 million square foot facility in Norfolk. The $700 million investment will generate 400 jobs in the area. The facility will be used to produce drilling and production pipe for major gas and oil companies across the United States and will use 500,000 tons of steel each year from Nucor Steel.

“We are in constant contact with OCT and have worked closely with landowners along the line throughout this process,” said Scott Zaruba senior business development representative for Black Hills Energy. “We remain committed to the residents and businesses, current and future, that will benefit from the safe, reliable energy this new line will provide for decades to come.”
