Con Edison launches energy efficiency virtual program for NYC customers

Con Edison announced the launch of a new software platform on Tuesday that allows its New York City customers to estimate the potential savings they can earn by upgrading to more energy efficient technology solutions.

The microsite, called Manage Energy, allows users to virtually tour up to 10 common New York City retail and office environments to explore cost-saving, energy-efficient technology. The site is interactive and 3D, and allows users to compare air conditioners for computer servers, LED lighting, automated thermostats and controlled ventilation.

“We’re trying to take our outreach to our large commercial customers to another level and that’s what this website does,” Vicki Kuo, director of energy efficiency for Con Edison, said. “As New York’s energy company, we have valuable expertise we can share with customers. We want to be the go-to source for energy efficiency information that customers can use to save money and keep our environment clean.”

The site is part of Con Edison’s Commercial and Industrial energy efficiency program. The utility is offering incentives for customers who upgrade to more energy efficient equipment to offset some of the initial cost of investing in new technology. The initiative hopes to offer an incentive to customers to use more clean energy solutions to decrease the energy carbon footprint in New York City.
