Coal Utilization Research Council welcomes two new member organizations
The Coal Utilization Research Council (CURC) recently announced that it has added two new organizations to its membership, the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers (IBEW) and clean energy non-profit ClearPath Action.
IBEW represents both American and Canadian workers in a wide range of skilled occupations, distinguishing itself as one of the largest unions in the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). With more than 725,000 active members and retirees, IBEW serves laborers in a wide array of fields, such as broadcasting, construction, government, manufacturing, railroads, telecommunications, and utilities. IBEW has a long record of support for federal policy that addresses climate change while promoting baseload power. The organization supported S. 3179, the Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) Act, which was introduced this summer by Sens. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), and which CURC also supported.
ClearPath Action is a 501(c)4 non-profit that assists legislators in understanding how their policies will impact economic competitiveness and energy security in their districts and across the U.S. The mission of the organization is to accelerate conservative clean energy solutions including clean coal, nuclear, natural gas, and hydropower, by concentrating on innovation and affordability in the clean energy industry.
