SolarCity recently opened its fifth operations facility in Maryland, a 20,000-square-foot center that added to the company’s 100 open positions throughout Upper Marlboro, Annapolis and the southern region of the state.
“I had the opportunity to visit SolarCity’s Beltsville facility in 2012, and I’m very pleased that they are continuing to expand their operations in Maryland with the opening of a new center in Upper Marlboro,” U.S. Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said. “It is critical that we invest in clean and affordable energy, and SolarCity is helping to make it easier for consumers to switch to cleaner energy. I am also proud that SolarCity is providing new opportunities for energy sector jobs and assisting consumers with installing solar technology for Fifth District residents and all Marylanders.”
SolarCity is the top solar power provider in the U.S. It strives to make solar energy accessible to Maryland homeowners by offering free solar panel rooftop installation at no upfront cost. Solar energy is more affordable than carbon-sourced electric fuels in the state of Maryland, giving customers an incentive to go green and help the environment.
The new facility already employs more than 75 workers, and SolarCity has more than 100 open positions at its facilities throughout the state.
