Nikola Power selected to compete in Techstars sustainability competition

Nikola Power, a storage and solar technology and software provider, was selected to be in the inaugural class of the Techstars Sustainability Accelerator program in partnership with The Nature Conservancy.

Nikola Power was the only energy storage company selected for the program.

Nikola Power, a member of the Energy Storage Association (ESA), develops and manages energy storage and solar projects. Nikola Power coordinates new energy storage and solar projects, secures project financing, and develops technology that can optimize the installation and management of batteries.

The Techstars event features 10 companies that selected from a pool of over 1,000 entrants. Participating companies are mentored by world-class scientists and experts from The Nature Conservancy. The companies will present their demos in October.

“We are quite honored to have been chosen to be a part of this network and can’t wait to continue the journey over the coming months,” J.W. Postal, founder and CEO of Nikola Power, said. “This is the first time Techstars has partnered with a multinational NGO like The Nature Conservancy, and we’re very lucky to learn from their expertise.”

Nikola Power’s project, which revolves around accessing solar power at night, will be demonstrated at the event.

“The answer lies in the form of batteries — but we don’t make batteries, we make them operate better,” Postal said. “When people think about batteries, they usually think of backup power. But our software does more than that, we help customers like cities, schools, and businesses save up to 40 percent on their monthly utility bills, turning batteries into a solution that can help all energy customers transition to renewable energy and save money.”
