A coalition of energy industry trade associations and other groups recently sent a letter to U.S. House of Representatives leadership urging them to include the Energy Storage Tax Incentive and Deployment Act, H.R. 2096, in any upcoming tax extenders legislation.
“Making energy storage an eligible technology for the Investment Tax Credit would have a transformative impact in modernizing the grid, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and accelerating America’s transition to renewable energy,” American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) President and CEO Gregory Wetstone said.
ACORE, the Energy Storage Association, the American Wind Energy Association, the Solar Energy Industries Association, Advanced Energy Economy, the National Hydropower Association, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions, ClearPath Action and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association signed the letter.
The coalition sent the letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA); Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA), chairman of the Committee on Ways & Means; Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA); and Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX), ranking member of the Committee on Ways & Means.
“We applaud the 110 House members who recently expressed their support for an energy storage tax credit and look forward to working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to include an energy storage tax credit in extenders legislation this year,” Wetstone said.
