AWEA hires former Missouri utilities commissioner to further wind power growth in “Wind Belt”

Former Missouri Public Service Commissioner Daniel Hall has joined the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) to help facilitate further wind power expansion throughout the midwest.

“We are excited to have Daniel on our team,” Amy Farrell, senior vice president of Public and Government Affairs for AWEA, said. “His legal and technical expertise, along with his years of experience in regulation at the state level, will help us work toward AWEA’s transmission vision of an increasingly connected, national grid.”

In his new role as Central Region Director of Electricity and Transmission Policy, Hall will be responsible for leading AWEA’s transmission and wholesale electricity markets work, in addition to policy concerning the efficient and affordable integration of wind energy, including consideration of seams issues between Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) and similar Independent System Operators (ISOs).

“Wind energy has been a remarkable growth and success story, especially in our part of the country,” Hall said. “But for that growth to continue, we need to update America’s electricity grid to meet 21st century needs. I look forward to bringing together state utility commissions, federal regulators, and RTO’s to make that happen.”

Hall previously served for the past six years as a Missouri Public Service Commissioner, officials said, including three as Chairman of the Commission.

He also served as a member of the Organization of MISO States board and president during the 2019 calendar year.
